The Idol Maker

When I was a little girl, a man came to stay with us..he was a 'potua', the idol maker. His work was so fascinating and mesmerising that till date whenever I see any clay idol, it reminds me of him.... When I came across a photograph of a potua painting a Durga idol...I thought this would be the best tribute I can give a person from whom I've learnt most of the color mixing...I don't know of his whereabouts but this is for him....'Palmamu'...I would fondly call him.

Dieter's Delight...:)

The other day I asked my kiddos to draw and paint pears and found that even my pears were not looking healthy enough...so I started with this...a quick one in a rough handmade paper...hope I could bring in the luscious look.....:)

Gardener...

Our tireless gardener fascinated my parents more than he did to me at first. Then I noticed his everyday blue shirt and a cap with an oversized shade and the black three-fourth...pink plastic sandals to add to these. The wrinkles on his face and creases of his shirt hardly matched the sturdiness of his hands though....Our fondly called 'Malimama' was not a bad start for a life study and that to a difficult one  and I thought of giving it a go.

Misty Istanbul..

While reading Pamuk's Istanbul..I was browsing through the photographs inside and I came across this...a beautiful misty background of blue mosque in mist with Bosphorus on foreground...and I thought of quickly making this pencil sketch.....

Celebrating life

My love for primary colors is back with this....I did this on request but thought to give a twist by making a Rajasthani girl dance to the Dholak of a Santhal boy. Hope everyone likes....
