The artworld lost another of its eminent personality....MARIO MIRANDA, the great cartoonist. As a child I almost believed that Khushwant Singh indeed resided in a bulb...courtesy Mario Miranda. I could identify his cartoons even before I could recognise my own signature. Loved his Ms. Nimboopani or his voluptuous secretary always zapping her male bosses with her one-liners. May your soul rest in peace the great artist...as Bachi Karkaria said..."keep the angels smiling".

That Lambadi Woman
The elaborate and ornate attire and jewelleries of a banjaran woman is ever fascinating to me. Besides, its a challenge to hold your patience until the last chain or drop. While painting the earlier one I mostly used my own imagination to create the designs for the ornaments...but this time I thought a little research will be of no harm....loved painting her tatoos..

Musings
Off late, unprecedented events and worldly tasks are simply keeping me away from my set of colours and canvases. Besides, I'm not being able to decide the posture of the Banjaran I wish to paint...countless sketches and a rough work yielded to nothing I can settle to. Am I too distracted?

The Idol Maker
When I was a little girl, a man came to stay with us..he was a 'potua', the idol maker. His work was so fascinating and mesmerising that till date whenever I see any clay idol, it reminds me of him.... When I came across a photograph of a potua painting a Durga idol...I thought this would be the best tribute I can give a person from whom I've learnt most of the color mixing...I don't know of his whereabouts but this is for him....'Palmamu'...I would fondly call him.
