Musings

When we decided to hold a drawing competition for youngsters as well as elders, little did I think that this small event could make such a big difference in the confidence level of some participants..the elders, to be precise. The winner, an art graduate was sans her skills since her marriage and was just raising the kids. That day, when we dragged her to the venue and I handed her the blank white sheath, she was clueless and asking for help...but then she came up with an idea which she named  'The Ray of Happiness'. The painting had two full bloomed plumeria with bright yellow color on a melancholic black backdrop. What an apt name it was as I could see her tear filled eyes beamed with the 'ray' as she painted.....and I was beaming as I could see so many happy faces around playing with my love....THE COLORS.

Search

Often I've seen fishermen yondering over the horizon, their boats floating and the oars swaying in air. I wonder whether their endless search ends into a journey of self exploration or the towering endless sky engulfing their mind  and souls numbs them.
This painting was done with reference to a beautiful photograph of Dipor Bil, Guwahati....just that I changed the mood of two fishermen....

Facades of a Face

I am confused because the thought with which I drew this makes me so. It happened when I came across one of my childhood friends after 25 long years. My joys turned into surprises and shocks when I found out the hidden grievances and jealousy yet a sense of love and affection at the same time woven under the same face.....Human nature?

The First Catch....

It was there in that houseboat in the backwaters that I realised how near was the horizon, how colored was the sky and how lonely and helpless man is in God's world. This lone man who came for an early morning catch at the breaking of dawn had to be (dis)satisfied with the catch he couldn't catch....and we, the happier of the lot went to see far beyond him and enjoyed the colors playing with the grey clouds in the horizon...irony? Probably or maybe Life......
