Testing my Patience

I am always amazed by the details created by the yesteryear's painters...especially when it comes to still life...wonder of their patience.....so, I thought of trying out their style ..........but as I am. unlike oil, my medium had to be transparent watercolor.........:)

The Monsoon Splash...

Come Monsoon and people throng the Gateway of India just to get wet as the sea splashes, sprays and plays around.........and I am fascinated..so, when I came across a photograph, I simply couldn't resist myself...just that I couldn't seek the photographer's permission as he/she is unknown to me...apologies............

The Seeping Light....

Often I've noticed sunlight seeping through the wet leaves and creating a mesmerising effect....I simply tried to create it but need more practice I must say.....

Holi Hai

The festival of colors, the colors of spring and happiness, fun and frolic, sometimes madness is just round the corner. Everywhere color filled packets, color sprouts and guns( a la machine gun style) have captured the market and every Indians thoughts. Just when I too was engrossed in preparing for that special day's agenda...I came across a photograph of this fest, it was so lively that I thought of giving it a try in my own way.........HAPPY HOLI

Beginning with a Bloom....

Its as if I started afresh.................................Spring's long gone....windy and scary rainy days are behaving like the nagging kid staying next door.....mind's full of sultry and misty thoughts too....then I thought of refreshing myself with this bloom........with a bright and sunny palette, I decided to come out of the needless, surrounding gloom......

Ekdanta Ganapati..

It is a saying that when Ganesha meditates, he turns into the calm blue shade and Ekdanta Ganapati depicts that form of him..........

A beautiful mood...

Sometimes we wander through some trivial thoughts and smile within....a sweet little smile with a little twitched lips...and...we remember a lovely moment...a loving someone....in a beautiful mood...............

That Sensitive Soul.....

Hey Girl why're you out in the dark...don't you know what waits outside? Why do you wear such clothes...why dress up like a model in the fashion show...don't you know what waits outside ? Poor Girl.....no one knows what she wore that fateful day...her partner says she was claded from head to toe...but nobody saw...'cause she lay naked on the barren road full of staring eyes and no helping hands...raped and brutally assaulted.....shivers and jitters and protests followed.....justice, still delayed...justice for her stupidly sensitive soul.....never acquired...............................

Canopy Walk....

The calmness and the cool shadows of towering deciduous trees with sun playing hide and seek amongst the canopy of leaves is what I seek......and the bright naked sky at the end of the rim of the canopy reminds me of the routines of the day to day life.....

Afloat on sky....

I wish to remain as I am as I float with the reflections of my past preventing me to sink.....and I carry the gems of my present with delicate embrace.....

Staying Afloat...

When the other day, I saw a leaf lying on a pool of water...partially submerged but refusing to sink, I realised how important it is to stay afloat against all odds...may be my partially submerged mind and values try for the same all the time...!!!

Monsoon Magic...

For me, monsoon is mystical and magical. A lazy afternoon of fogs, rains and mist is the time I love to paint most....and in a long drive, it takes me to a different and unsettling(as my friend says) world of imagination. So, when my friend took a photograph at their Cherrapunji trip and named it...Mist, It fascinated me and I tried to create the mist with watercolor. With some addition and deletion, I came up with this...hope you all like this.

Invasion of Dish...

As I was on my way to my Grandmom's place almost after a decade, I could see the changes that took place along the way.Massive concrete roads instead of the usual pitch-blend ones and the villages....thatched houses are replaced by shimmering tinned roof and most significantly, I noticed the invasion of satellite dishes with each house flaunting one of its own..

Village Lad

Another portrait....this time of a lad from my native place Assam. I tried to capture their simplicity.

Veiled......

Often I've heard the veil causing much furore amongst the liberal bunch...but can anyone deny the romanticism behind it? Very often I've noticed men being attracted to the veiled one...is it the mystery waiting to be unveiled which attact them?

Samudra at Kovalam

As I woke up to a sunny morning at Kovalam, the rough ruffles with its roars and the tranquil tide pools in the shore made me wonder of mother nature's awe-inspiring capabilities and I remained awestruck like the man on the shore, lone and self searching.
