The Mystique Cove

On a bright sunny day, in the backwaters of Poovar, I discovered this beautiful and mysterious tree cove. The engulfing darkness and the moving shadows of its peculiar flora gave the cove an eerieness and I was rather glad to see the flooding sunlight on the other side as we rode past it.

Search

Often I've seen fishermen yondering over the horizon, their boats floating and the oars swaying in air. I wonder whether their endless search ends into a journey of self exploration or the towering endless sky engulfing their mind  and souls numbs them.
This painting was done with reference to a beautiful photograph of Dipor Bil, Guwahati....just that I changed the mood of two fishermen....

Gardener...

Our tireless gardener fascinated my parents more than he did to me at first. Then I noticed his everyday blue shirt and a cap with an oversized shade and the black three-fourth...pink plastic sandals to add to these. The wrinkles on his face and creases of his shirt hardly matched the sturdiness of his hands though....Our fondly called 'Malimama' was not a bad start for a life study and that to a difficult one  and I thought of giving it a go.

Celebrating life

My love for primary colors is back with this....I did this on request but thought to give a twist by making a Rajasthani girl dance to the Dholak of a Santhal boy. Hope everyone likes....

Jungle Trail

Rugged roads of Ranthambhore with its surrounding dry forest of Dhonk had been a favourite of mine. I painted this on a day when my thoughts were drawn to my Ranthambhore days.........

A moody landscape

I painted this when my friend Gargi showed me a photograph of lake Periyar....God's own land has its own beauty and its known to the world, but, what attracted me was the cloudy sky with its moody reflection in the lake.
