Ganapati

This was quite challenging as I had to transform Lord Ganesha into a modern or say, an abstract form. The pose came suddenly in my mind....though an abstract, I couldn't refrain myself from painting the blessing hand and the delicious 'modak' without which I felt the concept would be incomplete.

Sunset...an Abstract

I joined this group of amateur photographers few weeks ago and saw a photograph titled black in nature...nice little composition of silhouettes of leaves against setting sun...thought of trying it out as an abstract and here it is.

A moody landscape

I painted this when my friend Gargi showed me a photograph of lake Periyar....God's own land has its own beauty and its known to the world, but, what attracted me was the cloudy sky with its moody reflection in the lake.

Silent Prayer

Hysteria, emotions, drama and sometimes violence, prayers are depicted in all forms. What I like is a silent prayer without any of such gestures at any time of the day and in any condition....

DUALITY

Abstract is a field where there is a very thin line between a matured subject and a childish love for colour splashes. I started this on request....chose the subject but was unsure of its outcome.
Duality exists in every individual...in every relationship. A teenage daughter is still vulnerable but thinks and enacts as an independent and determined individual often countered by the mother. Probably...mother too is still vulnerable and tries to protect the daughter more than required. There is a clash of personality, of sensuality too.......

Stairs

A morose heart gives rise to peculiar thoughts..sometimes...a drop of tear or two which we hide,

but, actually wish our loved ones could see. Sometimes, seclusion works wonder..at that time, what's more prefered than a lone corner in the darkness of an isolated stairs?

Stippled Forest

Stippling is an amazing technique....dots forming images..almost like pixel art. When someone gave the idea of drawing a forest with this method..I thought to give it a go. It was tedious with a normal paintbrush but fun. Hope everyone likes it. Thinking of trying some more in future.

Mist

I came across this valley in my dream? An abandoned shack torn by snowy wind standing amongst the mist...mysterious and haunted. The valley behind covered with thick fog and the conifers standing tall like sentinels...oof...seems I'm getting too poetic. Painting this picture in watercolor was a tedious job..I tried repeatedly to come up with this. Hats off to the photographer whose picture I referred to...

Seascape 2

I saw this lone fisherman in the wee hours at a deserted beach in Alibaug. With a burning ghat in the vicinity of the beach, every grain of sand reminded of some departed soul, but, he seemed oblivious or probably was too used to and at ease. His sporty look and efficient manner of braving the waves caught my fascination.

Seascape

The other day I was going through the snaps of Tarkarli...the clear blue sky and the emerald green water combined with clean white sand was inspiring enough for a seascape. First of the series, hope my skill in watercolor improves with each one of them.
