That Sensitive Soul.....
Hey Girl why're you out in the dark...don't you know what waits outside? Why do you wear such clothes...why dress up like a model in the fashion show...don't you know what waits outside ? Poor Girl.....no one knows what she wore that fateful day...her partner says she was claded from head to toe...but nobody saw...'cause she lay naked on the barren road full of staring eyes and no helping hands...raped and brutally assaulted.....shivers and jitters and protests followed.....justice, still delayed...justice for her stupidly sensitive soul.....never acquired...............................

MUSINGS...
They say and aptly say that for the Bengali community around the world the year starts with one Durga Puja and ends with the other....five days of frenzy and craziness about being the most devotional one are the specialities of puja. Sometimes I am amused as well as amazed by the thought that how can we give in to such a craziness...yes, craziness...we are simply crazy about Maa Durga...We just love her unconditionally..patiently wait for her the whole year and gradually prepare ourselves by getting our Pooja plans ready......Now that this year's frenzy is over...a natural void is engulfing me and I am struggling to get back to the regular routine...only to count the days down for the divine mother's next arrival....:)

A Complete Woman....
As a child, I 'd be staring at the huge idol of Maa Durga in the Puja Mandap, awestruck by her stern yet beautiful face, the grandeur of her fineries and wonder why does she has to have ten hands....!! Now, I understand the symbolism behind every aspect of it. We don't call her mother for nothing...Her ten hands..symbolises the multitasking often done by all the mothers in every household around the world..and..her fiery demon demilition , if not destruction, at least rebellion against the social evils...She's flanked by her children as the Mothers always are....even in her work, her leisure. And her fineries, a woman's ever fascination for being the most charming and beautiful one.....A COMPLETE WOMAN...

Paper Hibiscus
This year , paper Hibiscus was my agenda as a part of Ganapati Decoration...With Red Tinted and Crepe paper, Green tinted paper and some glitter, I came up with this. Used a few board pins for the pollens...:)
Ganapati Bappa looked gorgeous amongst the red petals of Hibiscus...will wait till next year for a new idea to crop up.......

A Different Venture...
A six yards of colors and glitters...dreams of most of the Indian ladies....I'm not spared either from such dreams...so, why not venture ? A little of sea green and a patch of maroon, yards of gold and a touch of glittery gold and copper was enough to make my friend glow with happiness...and me, contended with her twinkling eyes.......

FUTURENATURE.COM
My friend said its stark, bold...just what I wanted it to be. Often I wonder how will be our planet in future, say about a thousand years after? Going by the facts, will there be a sccorching sun hovering above almost dried up rivers lined with dried and dead branches and trees? I don't want to loose hope....won't our mother earth be little generous to give birth to new saplings for our future generations......IT'S ALL IN OUR HANDS.......

The Desert Dancer
The fascinating Kalbeliya Dancers of Rajasthan had always fascinated me. Their typical yet unusual black attire with white applique and the transparent veil flowing against a setting desert sun had ever made me awestruck. Though I've captured a very simple pose here, concentrating more on the attire which I love, these dancers can be very acrobatic with their serpentine agility while dancing to the nagging tune of a 'pungi'.....

Invasion of Dish...
As I was on my way to my Grandmom's place almost after a decade, I could see the changes that took place along the way.Massive concrete roads instead of the usual pitch-blend ones and the villages....thatched houses are replaced by shimmering tinned roof and most significantly, I noticed the invasion of satellite dishes with each house flaunting one of its own..

Musings
When we decided to hold a drawing competition for youngsters as well as elders, little did I think that this small event could make such a big difference in the confidence level of some participants..the elders, to be precise. The winner, an art graduate was sans her skills since her marriage and was just raising the kids. That day, when we dragged her to the venue and I handed her the blank white sheath, she was clueless and asking for help...but then she came up with an idea which she named 'The Ray of Happiness'. The painting had two full bloomed plumeria with bright yellow color on a melancholic black backdrop. What an apt name it was as I could see her tear filled eyes beamed with the 'ray' as she painted.....and I was beaming as I could see so many happy faces around playing with my love....THE COLORS.

Search
Often I've seen fishermen yondering over the horizon, their boats floating and the oars swaying in air. I wonder whether their endless search ends into a journey of self exploration or the towering endless sky engulfing their mind and souls numbs them.
This painting was done with reference to a beautiful photograph of Dipor Bil, Guwahati....just that I changed the mood of two fishermen....

The First Catch....
It was there in that houseboat in the backwaters that I realised how near was the horizon, how colored was the sky and how lonely and helpless man is in God's world. This lone man who came for an early morning catch at the breaking of dawn had to be (dis)satisfied with the catch he couldn't catch....and we, the happier of the lot went to see far beyond him and enjoyed the colors playing with the grey clouds in the horizon...irony? Probably or maybe Life......
